Excellent blend of bull and terrier, superb pigmentation, neat ears and dark round eyes all contributing to excellent head shape, moved very well even better in the challenge, pleased to award him the CC, (his 3rd I later found out) and BIS with total agreement with my co-judge

Beautiful blk/br, with an absolute cracking head, deep through, pronounced cheek bumps, good stop. Short muzzle. Dark round eye, with lovely strong, yet feminine, expression. Strong neck, leading to well placed shoulders and clean straight front. Ribs, well sprung, and level topline. Loved the clean lines shown in profile. A top drawer exhibit, which, demanded, and got her first place. CC

DOGS

My thanks to the committee for making my day so enjoyable – sorry I couldn’t help more!! Also thank you to all the exhibitors who entered under me and hopefully I didn’t upset too many!! Special thanks to my stewards who made my job so much easier by running a seamless ring for me.

I was very pleased with the dogs that came under me, still a few untidy feet but on the whole I felt the overall standard had improved. Too much emphasis on titbits which makes the handler and judge’s life more difficult, try to train without them!!

My co judge Ann Corns and I agreed on all our joint decisions.

Minor Puppy Dog. 1

1st Blow’s SCOUTOR ROGUE ONE – Well-presented black with white marking, smart well put together 7 month baby, good head shape, dark eye, moved well, should have a good future

Puppy Dog 4 (1)

1st Hands & Wyatt SKYESTAFF WINTER SOLDIER – See above

2nd Hammond’s HAMMYSTAFF RED REVENGE – lovely red, excellent dark mask, dark eye, nice head shape, think he is getting his own ‘revenge’ on his handler, as he is a real handful, when he did manage to walk properly his movement was good.

3rd Knight’s KALOSTAFFS DARK NIGHT – black brindle, not as mature as first 2, front feet need to tighten, nice head shape, dark eye, moved well but could do with some more training, handler will have some fun with him.

Junior Dog 11 (3)

1st Boggins & Burton's LUTHAIS LOCH TAY – just my sort, definitely the best in this class, glad he was there! Good head shape, well placed eyes, neat ears, good mouth, excellent pigmentation, moved and handled well, just mature enough for his age and in good condition and well presented, one of the best today, was in my mind for reserve cc but lost out on maturity

2nd James LUTHAIS LOCH NESS – litter brother to first, different but nevertheless nice dog, nice head shape, good eyes, mouth good, ears held back so lost a bit on expression, not so keen for me to go over back end (he was not alone in this class for this), moved well.

3rd Cherry’s FINNSTAFF PISTOL PETE – red with good dark mask, dark eye, good mouth, moved well, well deserved place.

Res Smith's TILLCARR FORGED IN FIRE.

VHC Birmingham's NEROTORO REGAZZO DORO.

BITCHES

My sincere thanks to the Officers and Committee of Southern Counties, for a well organised show, nothing was left to chance. My two stewards, Kim and Natalie, were very efficient, helping to keep the ring moving smoothly.

It had been concerning me that due to Lockdown, how this would have affected the lower classes, as perhaps, due to travel and other restrictions, the breeding programme of choice, may have been affected. I was, therefore, pleased to see some real quality coming through. As custodians of the Breed, this augers well for the future. Overall the quality was very high, the only mouth faults were a couple of misplaced teeth.
